are we just going to accept that Ash's Greninja is the result of z-moves because it seem to be more of power up than an ultimate move.

Impossible. Z moves can only be used once. This is a Mega-esque powerup.

It'll change form when you activate a Z move on it. This is accurate to the chinese leak and the Diancie movie.

Huh? It was used in the movie?

Anyway, how does that make sense? Something that only activates something that can only be used once can also be used for powering it up for a whole battle?

That was before we knew there were separate poses for separate elements. True, the original depiction of Mega evolving wasn't entirely right, either.
