Every game tends to have a 'gimmick' and last gene seems to be the mega evolution and this gen seems to be variants. Next gen could be something else.

I just think that mixing new mons, variants, and new megas, it would feel super crowded.

Z-moves is the first one of these "alternate" megavolutions. On the 8th gen, no one will be able to take any vanilla-mon seriously.

It's still a limited mechanic that doesn't share the same "limited mechanic count" as the other limited mechanic.

You can be sure that Z-moves will be shit on some mons of its type, and this will dumpster several species harder than ever, while forcing player to add others specifically so they can be used to sweep with their Z-move.

When they're talking about Mega evolution in X/Y they say it doesn't happen in all regions and it seems to possibly be related to legendary pokemon in the region although they pushed mega's into ORAS we know Steven was researching mega evolution along with Sycamore. It seems to be something exclusive to Kalos/Hoenn. It's not weird to bring back the mega's we already have because rich people collect and trade mega stones but i doubt we'll see mega evolution grow in the new region.

I think they will use Alola and other forms as a way to give old Pokemons new evolutions, and some Mega Evolutions.

Maybe Alolan Mawile can evolve instead of Mega Evolving. And maybe Alolan Electabuzz will be able to Mega Evolve instead of evolving into Electivire.

As for the legendaries that was pure speculation by sycamore as the stones come from meteorites.

It was a good idea during gen 2 because you can control the passage of time to some degree in gen 2 if I remember right.
In current games it's just a chore because you either have to play at those times or purposely go out of your way to adjust the clock on the system.

Nah, I think there will even be new Megas. GF simply hasn't had the need to reveal them yet. The new region, new Pokemon, Alola forms, Z moves, etc. have maintained the hype. I predict there will be a trailer in September or October, which reveals some new Megas.
