I've never seen this glitch.
The thing about "anti genwunners" is that they spend as much of their time purposefully searching for glitches so they can claim the games suck because of said glitches.

THEY DON'T FUCKING BROWSE HERE. THEY'RE PROBABLY TOO BUSY HASHTAGGING ON TWITTER AND HAVEN'T THOUGHT ABOUT POKEMON IN 10 YEARS.

Tip: liking Gen I or Gen I Pokemon doesn't make you a "genwunner." Liking ONLY Gen I simply because it's the original and refusing to acknowledge the rest of the series is a genwunner.

That being said, with Pokemon Go flooding the board with cancer recently, there might be actual genwunners among us now.

I dislike genwunners but I don't hate Gen I. The glitches are excusable considering the technical limitations they had to work with at the time. No Gameboy game at the time dealt with as much content or as complex save data structures as Pokemon did. The games required an insane amount of optimization and hacking fuckery to work as well as they do.

I'm sure the games were also pushed out when they were to ensure that they'd get plenty of time in the limelight and properly demonstrate the Gameboy's features, meaning that they didn't have years to polish them and find every single bug and glitch.

Anon they had help from people who were accustomed to the hardware as well as people who had prior experience in RPGs.
Not to mention the game had been in development for 6 years. Technical limitations aside it was still poorly made.

They came out at the tail end of the Gameboy's life seeing as the color was released two years later.
