Thats because you can see some art fails in the seasons before gen 3. For example, kabutops eating fish in one scene in the anime. two or more scenes like this.

That's not what I was asking, though.
And the descriptions are there almost every gen, it wasn't just a RBY error.
A recent example would be Popplio, he's described as "sea lion pokemon".

Even so, despite all of this, there is no reason to believe real animals exist in pokemon at all. We've literally never seen one after Gen 1. Isn't it weird that literally nobody owns a dog? Or a cat? Why do we never see regular birds? Why don't any real animals roam where pokemon roam?

It's far easier to explain this with them not being sure about the state of the pokemon world in Gen 1, rather than trying to figure out where all these real animals are at.

I just don't get why would they reference real animals in the pokedex if they didn't exist at all in the world.
I mean, many dex entries has something different like "dancing pokemon" for oricorio, but then they use "donkey pokemon" for mudbray.
It's inconsistent, yes. But there must be a reason for this other than laziness from the developers.

None, just give me a story about two groups at odds with one another, one wanting to open up Alola for tourists and modernize it and the other wanting to reisolate thrmselves and stay traditional with you being the deciding factor. I know it isn't. Pokemon IS, however, the most egregious example of gameplay and story segregation on the face of the planet. EVERYTHING that I find to be a flaw about the games in general can be traced DIRECTLY to an aspect of it. What about the other games, you might ask? Well, I will admit that my beef is purely on one aspect: the very premise of the game itself and the matter it is at odds with the message it's supposed to be giving. Anything else, I can at least justify what I'm doing in some context. With pokemon, I can't.
