Entei and Raikou are definitely felines just like the beasts they are based on, Suicune is not, probably a mix of more animals, all 3 are based on myths, Raiju mixed with a sabre tooth cat and Shishi x Barong (the latter most likely gives it the fluff fur design), Suicune happens to be based on the Qilin. It has some traits of this creature such as the bejeweled and antler feature as well as the behaviour one, but otherwise this draconic creature had many other body variations and colors, it has paws but also antlers, it has a feline grace, the elongated head reminds of cervidae family but also has fangs that may be canine features too in this case. Pretty much fits the ambiguous descriptions of the Qilin.
Legendary dogs is a completely stupid fanmade name, the other one, legendary beasts, despite being also fanmade, fit them more, think of them like of the Dante's Inferno three forest beast except for their different symbolism.
