It takes up space from the game anyway, also they'd try to add some shitty gimmick where we have to do awful minigames to get our Pokemon again. Interfacing with cartridges to migrate the data is seamless and quick.
I'm sorry you guys can't afford 5 dollars a year, or the service is somehow not available where you live, or a lack of reliable internet? Either that or you're some contrarian who thinks keeping clouds up isn't expensive. I know they are a multi million dollar company, but a little backfunding doesn't hurt anything.
