The only difference between Cut and Night Slash in the anime is that Night Slash is purple. That's it.

This is also something people need to understand.
In the anime, moves don't have numerical values attached to them. There might be differences between certain moves being more powerful variations(Hydro Pump is still better than Water Gun), but things don't work the way they do in the games.

When cut was introduced in the anime its sole purpose was cutting trees. Frenzy Plant is huge tree roots.

because those are tree roots, and I thought lore-wise frenzy plant, hydro cannon, and blast burn were supposed to be the strongest moves? Maybe that was only back in the old days.

Ash Greninja's Cut isn't normal, it's insanely powered up just like every other one of his moves. For instance, Aerial Ace becomes akin to Close Combat, Double Team creates clones with actual mass and Water Shuriken becomes a nuke.

I'm doing a playthrough of X right now using only Ash's team and the move sets they have in the anime. Greninjas moves are straight up ass.

Pikachu can't even get iron tail unless you move tutor it in DP and trade it up or some shit so I've filled that slot with rock smash and never use it.

About to head through victory road.

To simulate Ash-greninja i get to use a hyper potion on it if its health gets into the red.
