People are going in the right direction with the two teams and the time based goals, but the wrong concept. Think perpetual summer/winter with Team Solstice/Team Equinox. With one of the leaks mentioning time works different in both versions, I am thinking that one has longer days and the other longer nights. So basically, Solstice wants to use Solgaleo for longer days all year long, basically sending nature into a frenzy and everything is overgrown, while Team Equinox wants to use Lunala for longer nights, sending the ocean into a frenzy and eventually stalling the worlds crops. This is great for the 20th as it potentially ties all the themes of the games together. You have the greed thrown into Equonox cause they gain control of the worlds last crops, the land vs sea of Hoenn because of the reliance of crops vs fishing, Cyrus' new universe and the space theme of gen 4 as both teams want complete control of nature, the nature vs technology of gen 5 with an overgrown world that Pokemon can thrive in vs the colder planet with little nature as man relies on technology tk survive, and lastly the themes of life and death because the over abundance of an eternal summer is the extreme end of life vs the cold harshness of an eternal winter essentially wipes out the worlds populace over the course of a few years.
