Based on the genwun pandering The Pokemon Company has been doing since Gen 6 began, I'm willing to predict that we'll be going back to Kanto again in the core games within the next 5-7 years.

I'd take a remake. I never could 100% these two since my friends never got into pokemon so I couldn't trade for what I needed. Glad the newer ones have the online trading. Pretty annoying that most people nickname them shitty names though.

Yeah, if the NX truly is a hybrid console then I could see that. Kanto, in true gridless 3D, on a home(?) console? That'd sell units like nobody's business

They do remakes to make the older gens compatible with the newer gens, so technically Gen 1 could go for another remake but you can transfer from RBY from the eshop

Red/Blue but in 3D would be unacceptable by todays standards. Each town needs more to do, gym leaders need more active roles in the plot, things need to be more cinematic...

LOL nah fampai, they do it for money, the compatibility thing was just a neat way of packaging FRLG for the fans, all the Johto mon were accessible before HGSS, all the Hoenn mon were accessible before ORAS etc.

It should be the exact amount of years since the original games came out. If it came out this year (it won't), it'd be 20 years. If it came out in 2020, it'd be 24 years.

That was the intention of the "3 years later" in the original GSC at least - roughly the same amount of years had passed in the Pokemon universe as in the real world (1996 to 1999). That was cool as fuck.

They'd probably have Blue/Green as the new Professor Oak (his kid could be one of your rivals/friends), Silver as the Viridian Gym Leader (taking after his father) and Lance being some old ass silver fox still in charge of the E4 (him or Koga, who has risen through the ranks yet again). Red is mentioned but mysteriously nowhere to be seen. That's what I'd expect.
