>>27648642I don't defend it because it's cute, but because I like the concept. I don't even think that it's all that cute in its final evo, it has an underlying uncanniness to it, which I think is done on purpose.
Going from a popular plush like creature that gets hugged but can't hug back, to a mascot costume that can but no one wants to hug because it would literally kill you is a nice concept. Its final evo also nails the failed mascot character idea for me because they did it without just going the easy way and making it obviously look overly scary or grotesque. I get why people might not like its looks, but the idea behind it is nifty and I really love it. Hell, I might even use one even though I hardly use fighting or normal types otherwise.
He also gets bonus points for reminding me of Kumamon.
