>>27649939Objectmons aren't my favorite in general - Vanilluxe is trash, Garbodor is okay, Voltorb is meh at best - but this is terrible. Not necessarily because it's an objectmon, but because it's too simple.
Seriously, I hate to sound like a genwunner (Gen 5 was actually my favorite), but Pokemon are more and more toy-like. Bewear is literally just rounded-off cylinders attached together and looks like a goddamn teddy bear, Togedemaru is a ball that occasionally grows spikes, Komala's head is so oversized it looks like a chibi and Rockruff suffers from the same problem, and now there's this Kirby enemy of a Pokemon. They don't look like animals, they look like plush toys. Yes, there were simple toymons in each generation. Gen 1 had Jigglypuff and Seel, Gen 2 had Furret and Sudowoodo, Gen 3 had Makuhuita and Spinda, I can't actually think of anything for Gen 4, Gen 5 had Lillipup, Vanilluxe, and Foonguss, and Gen 6 had Scatterbug, Litleo, Dedenne, and Pancham.
No, I'm not saying these toymons are bad by default - Furret is one of my favorite Normal-types - but you can't deny they look as if they were made to sell plushies of them. The only reason Gen 4 doesn't have any is because it was the pinnacle of "add spikes to it," making everything look less toylike and more edgy. Like I said, being a "toymon" doesn't make it automatically bad, but enough of them make it look like one of those freemium phone knockoffs that try to lure people in with "cute." Gen 7 does have some good designs - El Tigre is the only starter I don't like (please give me an alternate evolution mr leaker), Drampa is GOAT, Mimikyu is wonderful, Oricorio is bretty gud - but honestly, it looks less and less like an official Pokemon game with every 'mon revealed.
