Due to lack of space, here's some added notes about each step:
1. When making the sketch use different colours to keep track of the different distinct parts of the sprite.

4. Anti-aliasing, if you don't know how, is something you'll have to figure out by yourself. I do it instinctively, without much consistency to any rule.
5. It doesn't always have to be brownish black, but give it a different tint based on the hue of your Fakemon.

7. Aditionally the layer menu shows you which layers are clipped to which. In this case all the layers under Outline are clipped to Base Colour.
