>>27668133>WeatherOn Smogon, Alderon proposed that Drizzle + Swift Swim be banned on the same team until a more effective measure could be properly instituted since Swift Swim itself wasn't OP, neither was Drizzle, but the combined efforts led to easier ladder climbing not unlike hyperoffense, meaning massive outcry from all the low-mid ladder players.
Of course, Alderon's proposal become the rule for gen 5, and there never was any measure to actually test for what was broken as Sand once again took its place as dominant weather.
Gen 6 limited the auto-weather abilites to 5 turns on switch-in, 8 if holding the appropriate weather rock, sealing the fate of all true weather teams. Now, it's simply teams that use Tyranitar and Mega Charizard and try not to gimp their own team synergy as the only face of 'weather.' It didn't matter for rain that you could pair Drizzle + Swift Swimmers for the rain meta, since weather was already dead.
>Baton PassGen 5 brough about Magic Bounce, which meant that you could never counter Baton Pass without a dedicated Haze/Perish Song user, as all traditional forms of pseudo-hazing (Roar/WW/Dragon Tail, etc) could be bounced away, which was easy to achieve since you were already at +2 speed + substitute, etc.
This led to the rather drastic rule/ban stated as thus: Baton Pass Clause: Players cannot have more than one Pokémon with the move Baton Pass. Furthermore, a Pokémon cannot have Baton Pass while also a move that boosts Speed and a move that boosts another stat.
>Sand RushNot banned. Just like Drizzle + Swift Swim, Sand Rush + Sand Stream was banned together on the same team as a way of banning that combination use on Excadrill (while effecting nothing else relevant in OU) in Gen 5 when weather was at its most prominant (still less common that people complain about if you actually look at team data use from showdown/PO).
Now in Gen 6, that clause doesn't exist but it matters not since weather is dead.
