Alakazam gets worse and worse every generation. I blame that stupid lawsuit. Even in the card games they had to turn Alakazam into a base card because how can you even use Alakazam since there hasn't been a print of Kadabra since 1999?

Does anyone know why Salamence fell from grace so hard?

I used to be really into competitive pokemon in Gen4, and I did my best to work dragonite into my teams because I just like him better -- but I knew that Salamence outclassed him in most scenarios.

Wtf happened? Was it just Multiscale that did it? That just seems like something niche and not enough to drop Salamence into the lower tiers.

Sure, but this doesn't really explain why Dnite wasn't negatively effected.

Gen4, Salamence is the top Dragon along with Garchomp (who is then banned). Dnite is still OU, but really just has niche rolls. Gen5 rolls around (no fairies yet) and Salamence begins to drop in usage, but Dnite only rises. Gen6 comes, and Salamence drops even further, while Dnite continues climbing.

If slow speed and fairies are what hindered Salamence, wouldn't these very problems hinder Dnite even more?

It can set up on things other Pokémon can't set up on.

because you go into battle at 100% most of the time.

So you automatically have a free shield to do something like dragon dance.

And then dragonite also gets roost.
