Gen 3, 4, and 5 were the absolute peak of the franchise. Each game in these Gens, including the masterful remakes and third versions, are perfect Pokemon games. Is it a coincidence that the best and only good Pokemon games also make up the canon, Non-Mega timeline?

Gen 1 and 2 started things off great, but aged horribly overtime. Playing them now for any reason other than nostalgia is pretty much insane. Plus, the remakes make them worthless.

Gen 6 was a step in the wrong direction. If the team behind Gen 5 had been behind Gen 6, it could've been an amazing follow-up Gen. But no, it was instead a disappointment. Maybe if Game Freak hadn't spent so much time forcing themselves into the third dimension, we could've had a beautiful 2D, sprite-based game for 3DS (Just think sprites jumping out at you like a pop up book). If Game Freak had gone this route, they could've spent more time on making the games better.

And now with Gen 7 on the way, it's obvious Pokemon has passed its peak. It's official ruined. Nothing will ever compare to FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, HeartGold, SoulSilver, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, White, Black 2, or White 2.
