Fire-types moving in to icy areas and changing as dramatically as Vulpice did seems a tad extreme to me. If the leaks are true and Arcanine becomes a Water-type, that might be even more extreme and ridiculous.
Although, I believe there are hot springs or geysers on one of the islands in the art. If Growlithe moved into the heated areas with boiling geysers, I think I could allow a Water form then. Although I'd really prefer to see Fire/Water.
The biggest problem I have with this is they took until now to start doing regional forms, and they won't retroactively make Hoenn or Kalos forms of older Pokemon. That, and the fact they're apparently only doing Alolan forms for Generation I Pokemon. Some of the Johto and Hoenn Pokemon could use a little spicing up.
