JESUS.
PORYGON is the single most important Pokemon in the entire series and I'm going to tell you why: Porygon made it possible for pokeballs & items to be transported via online computers, indefinitely stored AND allowed us to capture and contain Pokemon inside Pokeballs in the first place!
Porygon was an experiment in not only creating digital life but transferring digital life into the REAL WORLD (and vice versa). Porygons were programmed and made so that people could test the online capabilities of the PC without testing them on a "real life breathing Pokemon" and it worked spectacularly as we see today!
However when all this was completed Porygon faced +extinction+ as they no longer needed the creature, but luckily for us there were people on the inside who thought it was horribly unethical to literally create a Pokemon and then delete it's entire species when it was no longer "useful": adopting Porygons as well as ..auctioning them off..(most likely sometimes illegally and probably to cover the expenses of the project.)
So now we have Porygons! Porygons out and about and free (sort of)!
So we should be thankful to Porygons for all they've done for us: Pokeballs, PC's and even now more than ever before as new and exciting models of Porygons are being created to help us explore space and potentially +other dimensions+
Perhaps even someday Porygon-Z will be perfected and the 4chan users of the Pokemon world will have all their 2d dreams come true!
