Last thread had an interesting discussion before it went to shit, so here is an attempt to repeat that.
It would most likely be a taboo, but not illegal. There would probably be strict laws being enforced to perpetrators, but its doubtfull there would be people going out of their way to catch perpetrators, since even pidgeys can seriously harm humans, so most pokemon wouldn't fear rape from us.
There would, however, be a social disgust between people who see pokemon as pets and those who seem them as equals, and this could lead to social problems and much worse.
Regions specifically? I beat all of them, and probably sinnoh is the most oppen one since they show books related to the subject in public libraries.
