Blood, cleavage, and smoke got edited out, scenes if not entire episodes got cut, and rewrites were introduced that created massive plot holes (Nami getting sick from nothing, Laboon not existing, no mention of the Elbaf giants).
All of this occurred around the same time people began to become internet savvy and understand what 4kids was doing to all their shows. It really shook up consumer trust and cost them a lot of money and licenses once Funimation started up.
