How do you build a team, personally?

I usually just start with mos I like and see if I'm missing something type or general strategy wise.

Pic related was just the first usable thing I found googling Pokemon teams.

I usually pick a Mega and build on it from there. My favorite playstyle is having a bunch of slow/average Pokemon with loads of offense, then packing Tailwind on something for doubles.

I used both Mega Mawile and Mega CharizardY.
It's actually more flexible. Since you're not stuck to one specific playstyle. You're only using 4 pokemon out of 6 anyway.
Also, want to know a secret? Icy Wind>Tailwind in doubles 4v4, coz taunt/encore are more likely than switch-ins in the metagame.

Depends if you have put any speed investment if they are all slow as fuck naturally and no speed investment trick room otherwise if they have average to okay speed I usually use tailwind

I usually pick a mon I really want to use and then pick mons that work well with it and cover its weaknesses. Then I look for any major weakness to popular mons and adjust from their. Or sometimes not if I'm too lazy. I usually use a balanced team though, I'm not great at hyper offense and stall is boring.

I've never been able to figure out how people make good teams. I always just copy whatever the top team is, unless that team is stall, then I go lower until I see the first non-stall player.

I think they should do this every year. Just like they do in the tcg where old pokemon cards become unplayable. It restricts all the super powerful strategies that come out when literally everything is available, and makes teams more varied.

I take six random pokemon and slowly tweak my team over time. My team used to be a team of shitmons, bar Alakazam, and now- three years later- it's actually a formidable OU team. Of course, if you don't want to take three years, there are other methods...

Can we use this as a RMT thread? I just set up this balance team for UU and was curious if any UU veterans had pointers on general improvements. I've got a FWG core with my first three here, who are fairly able to cover each other, and a subcore of Fairy/Dragon/Steel that also helps each other out, albeit more in a team supporting sense (cleric, late game sweeper, Fairy-remover)
