It's a Pokeathelon Mon.

Its useful gimmick was better Pokeathelon stats than normal Pichu.

So like Cosplay Chu, its gonna not move on because its specific to the game

Spiky-Eared Pichu had an actual story, an actual in-game event that featured Celebi and another, Shiny Pichu. It had a personality. It had a background. It had friends. And they fucking ditched it as if it was nothing.

And then they try to fucking remake it as a Pikachu with absolutely no redeemable traits whatsoever other than being able to fucking play dress-up. Cosplay Pikachu was a disgrace. I'm glad we're getting rid of it in Gen 7.

But I will forever miss my beloved Spiky-Eared Pichu. She and her Shiny Pichu BFF will now be separated for the rest of eternity, never to see each other's smiling face ever again...

Where exactly did you get the idea that Cosplay Pikachu was trying to emulate that little event back in HG SS? I thought it was more on so reintroducing contests in the remakes by giving the player a flexible pokemon right off the bat.
