>>27806554Was just about to post that. Listen to this,
"The Hawaiian islands began to form as a result of volcanic activity about 5 million years ago. Due to their young age and igneous geology they preserve very few fossils. Most such remains are creatures like relatively recent corals and molluscs that lived in the area when sea levels were higher than they are today."
Also,
"...No non-avian dinosaur fossils have ever been found in Hawaii because the volcanic activity responsible for their creation did not begin until after their extinction."
>>27806554If the OP is true, then it's a given we're getting a mollusc. Although it could take the Clamperl/Anorith route and evolve into something that doesn't look anything like a mollusc.
The Rib Fossil, again if it's actually real, could be pretty much anything. They don't HAVE to have the fossil mons be based on something from Hawaii. It could just be a stegosaurus, or something. Ideally, it being a Rib Fossil would mean that the pokémon it comes from has a notable ribcage/stomach. All the fossils are named after a prominent feature of the pokémon it comes from.
Hawaii only has fossils of sea life and birds, and I can't see them doing another bird. I posit that the Rib Fossil belongs to pic related. There is a japanese yokai of a skeleton ghost whale, and I've been waiting for Pokémon to do one forever. Sure, it'd be weird for it to be Ghost/Rock if it lives in the water, but that didn't stop lileep and anorith. We don't HAVE a Ghost/Rock type yet, so if this is true, I'd love it.
Having a Ghost/Rock type be one of the fossil mons is a great idea. How WOULD you make a rock that is also somehow a ghost? You would make it a fossil.
Stop making all the fossil pokémon come from the ocean, god dammit, Game Freak.
