Doing a blind Nuzlocke, battle style set, no healing. Just reached route 02, here are my very first impressions:
>Didn't like the intro, it felt overly long and overall poorly done.
>I liked the opening narration and the character selection part. At least the MC has some backstory and the professor isn't a moron that doesn't remember his own grandson's name.
>The first town is not just 4 houses, and there's a little bit of stuff to get, that's always a plus.
>The starter selection test is an interesting idea, but poorly executed. It doesn't help that the answers are color coded, and I feel it would be plain bothersome in replays.
>Rolled a Raptorch, that thing is gonna die to the first surprise water attack it takes, I can already tell.
>Everything so far seems to have only one evolution judging by the Pokedex numbers, which is interesting.
>I like how the stat sheets show IVs and EVs, but the move switching is weird as fuck.
>In fact, the UI and controls are weird as fuck.
>The music selection is nice so far.
>I liked Route 01's layout, but the encounters not so much, everything just screams FAKEMON in your face.
>I had to grind train my starter and my cubbug just after the first trainer battle since those first trainers can end your run easily if luck is on their side. It was a PAIN.
>I can already tell the level curve will be unforgiving, and the grinding will be anbundant and excruciatingly slow, thanks to that scrolling UI.
>Not even gonna bother with challenge mode since it doesn't scale the experience. Might as well just call it grind mode.
>Second town was OK, I now have a million Oran berries, which is nice.
>I liked the guy that tells you NPCs might have different dialogues if you talk to them several times.
>Healing in Pokemon Centers seems to be quicker than in the Nintendo games. A very welcome change
>Route 02 seems promising, but I'll have to train again because there's probably rock or ground types ahead and my bearbug and raptor could get killed.
