If the only pokemon that could learn earthquake were ground types with a few exceptions, or if the only pokemon that could learn body slam were thought out logically (no jigglypuff, poliwag, etc. only stuff like snorlax or miltank). I think it would be cool if a lot more moves were niche, like swords dance, Ice beam, Thunderbolt, u-turn, etc. So movesets were more diverse (less boltbeam or edgequake thrown on everything for example).
One of the big examples is if only pokemon that had a blade or something similar (farfetch'd leek, marowak bone, etc.) could use swords dance. It would make them more useful as well as making more diverse setup sweepers.
I guess I'd like to see more diversity in viable pokemon & movesets is one possible way to do it. (of course, there's still the huge stat disparity and stuff like stupid abilities)
