Dewgong - 743 cp

Which should I put my effort into? It will take me an age to find 50 seel candies, I don't get near water often. The Dewgong has Ice Shard and Blizzard which makes me want it just for dragons.

I'm considering powering this up. I'm level 19, this has good moves and 80% IV. There are lots of fire/rock types near me while water types are hard to come by, so I'm thinking of bumping this guy up to around 1200cp.

Niantic uses gps to check distance traveled and it's only from A to B in a strait line. iirc it gets your location every ten seconds and measures the distance between the two points.
I use my car in first gear and creep.

1) My car doesnt have cruise control so it's hard to keep it sub (15mph?)

There was some blue faggot (lv. 37) with 10 +2500cp Snorlax's that im almost guarenteeing got banned. He was taking my 10 neighboorhood gyms for about 2 1/2 weeks and haven't seen him since.

How is trading even going to be regulated anyways?

If someone snipes a pokemon and then hands it off to a legit account, will both accounts get banned?

Will you only be able to trade for pokemon who's level is equal to or under yours, or will people give away maxed out dragonites to newbies and fuck up the progression?

What's to stop people from literally assaulting others and forcing them to trade? People selling high CP pokemon for money?

Something tells me trading is a bad idea?

I got enough candies for Golem weeks ago, but I wanted a high cp geodude first. Finally got this guy, 80 points higher than my next highest, and thought I was good... but his IVs are like 2%-33%, avg 20%. Wtf.

The current solutions for trading being tossed around is restrictions grouped by leveled tiers (1-5, 6-10, 11-15, ect), the other leading possibility is Pokemon above your level being 'disobedient' and unusable in gyms and future trainer interactions/events until you meet the appropriate level.

You probably won't hold it for long unless you can find an isolated gym and have your teammates reinforce it
I took a gym for team valor 3 days ago and put a 1500 CP Clefable in it, and it just hit level 9 yesterday
It's in an empty enough spot that it will probably be left alone for a while

This is so weird, how can you not see that you have a blessing if your area spawns Growlithe commonly? It makes some sense to see plants and weeds like Bellsprout and Oddish as the commons with the Growlithe/Vulpix/Ponyta being the rares. If they go after you, they won't use that as a basis, because it's clear they don't manually check for bans and auto-ban based on a criteria, so they might use things such as device info, altitude or some other GPS-related thing to detect emulators.

Where you spoofed won't matter much in that case, but to get at least some basic protection, set emulator's device name, model, IMEI and screen resolution to those of the phone you use when walking.

It is very easy for Niantic to tell.
Bans happen at least once a day usually late at night.
And there have been reports of people who:
Botted only with the old API
Botted only with the new API
Emulated only with the old API
Emulated only with the new API
any combination
for as many as 3 weeks before with nothing till the ban.
It is pretty much a fact that 98% of botters have already been banned. There are reports of people saying no ban yet but, we have reports of people who botted in July like once, weren't banned last week but instead were yesterday.
Bans are still happening and not all flagged account have been banned yet.
I can safely say that no one is safe YET.

If I do spoof again, I'm debating whether or not to check the option that has your location 'wander' randomly within a certain preset distance. I feel like I'd be setting myself up for failure if I used that feature, compared to just gradually clicking around.

Anybody been having server/connection issues today? I normally have to restart the app regularly anyway, but today especially it's been shitty. I tried taking over a gym, beat it twice then couldn't beat it again because it came up with some error. Then went to take another gym but it froze and did that spinning ball thing when I tried to enter the gym, had to restart the app. Took over a different gym, and it took me over a minute to cash out. Then got home, saw an abra on the radar, tried to find it but nothing was working I couldn't even hit pokestops. I shut down my phone, restarted everything, now it works but still seems laggy.
Also the abra is gone :(

I caught a CP 1000 Seadra with both Dragon Breath and Dragon Pulse. IV range is 83-88%. Do you think it would be an effective Pokemon to use against Dragonites, or would it still get wrecked by them? It has super effective moves even without STAB, but it wouldn't take super effective damage from a STAB Pokemon.

1. Usually just scoops up your highest CP mons. The first one is a decent type counter to the leading Pokemon, but beyond that you shouldn't put too much faith into it.

2. Backpack expanders and maybe Pokemon expanders for further down the line should be your Pokecoin investment. If you are by a shitton of Pokestops then just ditch a bunch of Pokeballs - it's your best bet. If you end up not battling though don't let your Revives and Potions get out of hand.

Yes, that's true. But that's what I'm worried about-- making it a Kingdra would give it STAB but also make it take super effective damage. It may be more effective as-is than evolving it later down the line. As far as I know, STAB is 25% in this game and super effective damage is also around a 1.25x multiplier. However, STAB on a move could result in far less damage dealt than damage received depending. This is what I'm considering.

1) It seems to put Pokemon in order of type effectiveness and strength. Typically mine puts the first Pokemon as the one that would be super-effective against the first gym Pokemon, and the remaining 5 are super effective against the last gym Pokemon. The middle ones are always ignored.

2) I was able to claim enough gyms to hold up to 450 items, but I still do not carry more than 40 revives. If you do not do many gym battles, I would carry only 20. You get tons of revives from every level up and their common to pick up anyway. I keep as many hyper potions as I can, I've never gone past 90 though as I gym battle a lot. If you rarely battle, 90 is way too much. As for Pokeballs, I would keep no more than 100 Pokeballs, the rest should be as many ultra and great balls as you can carry. Because even low level Pokemon have realistically high breakout rates, you always wanna keep at least 50 Pokeballs on hand. After 100, I'd toss any excess.

Also nests do seem to have only certain windows of activity. There's a Magnemite nest like 30 km from my house in a park, but only in a certain portion of the park and they only appear in droves between 12 and 7. Once it hits 7 PM and the map changes to night, they skedaddle.

Do all copies of a pokemon have the same IV's when multiple players capture them?

Ie. a growlithe spawned near my house. I was excited because there's a nest nearby so I had enough candy to evolve it, and since it was a nest all of the growlithes had shit IV's-

My girlfriend, my sister and I all were seperate levels, 20, 23 and 24- the CP's of the growlithes caught were 749, 750 and something in the mid 800's- but all three had 91.1% IV's.

I'm not sure if the exact stat distributions were the same, however.

most of the stuff on your 'common' list is pretty hard to find here, almost all water types are uncommon. And a couple of the others, like I just caught my first doduo a few days ago, and I'm level 24. I've also never even seen a pinsir. A couple of those others I've only seen 1 or 2 of, like eggecute/psyduck/bulbasaur.

we have a shitload of Nidoran, and a lot of venonats, oddish, paras and gastly. Oddly enough, a decent amount of charmanders too, but literally no other fire types.

Also eevees are insanely common, most of the gyms are held by 2k+ eeveelutions because everyone has them. The only stuff I see more often than eevee is the general pidgey/spearow/weedle/rat etc..

Consider the common scenario of a friendly Level 3 gym full of pokes, someone left a 1000-CP Arcanine or Flareon at the bottom.

Leave your vape as-is, and stomp all over the firepoke and get 500-1000 prestige for the gym. Do that once or twice and for a minimum of healing potions you get your 10 coins. Every time.

Spend a small fortune evolving a good vape every level-up you get - and you get one 'mon who's fantastic, but not that much more fantastic than the one you evolved from that 700CP Eevee you caught between level 25 and level 26.

My first vape was like yours. I picked an Eevee with good IVs, used the one-time name trick, and got lucky on movesets. Haven't spent more than 1600 dust on Rainer and that was just to better lock down the possibilities for his IVs. That little squirt has made me so much coins for so few potions. He's half the strength of my strongest vapes, but he's my bro.

If you were level 24 when you caught it, you already have those stats, they don't tell you anything, so power it up and see if you can't narrow it down a bit.
If you were level 23 when you caught it, the second one MUST be one of the 89%/91%/93%

tl;dr: IV calculators + even levels = meh. IV calculators + odd levels = there's no way you caught an L24 poke at L23 which means you caught a *good* L23 poke.

Poke X spawns with IVs a/b/c.

Player of level 10 sees it as a (random level 1-10) and generally sees something like a CP150 Xmon
Player of level 20 sees it as a (random level 1-20) and generally sees something like a CP300 Xmon.

A second player of the same level sees the same mon and the same CP. If you're level 19, and see a CP280 Xmon, and your friend is also L19, he will see the same mon at CP280. Because it has the same IVs. (And I'll bet the same moveset.)

Almost the same here. I tend to get more Water Pokemon since I live near a creek, farmed the hell out of Psyducks (wished it was Squirtles instead).

Although I also live near a park where there are lots of Bulbasaurs. Got lucky with a somewhat decent Charmander with 345cp from an egg. Never found a Pikachu.

Is it worth leveling up Chansey, or are they trash? They have low CP but very high HP, so I figured they might be useful for holding gyms, but I never tried.

Also, has anyone tried putting Grimer in gyms? Opening Grimer's page crashes the app on a lot of phones, after all, might make your gym invincible.

Idiotic advice. It's better to use Lucky Eggs ASAP (when you have 60-70 mons ready to evolve) so that you reach higher levels faster and start getting strong mons from eggs or in wild.

The grind at level 20+ is hard enough as it is, add in the fact that the catch rate goes down at level 20 and it's even harder. Might as well save all the easy to catch shitmons for when you hit level 20.

The grind is the same really. There's more exp per level, but since you get as much exp from evolving a Pidgey at level 25 as you do if you evolve it at level 15 it doesn't matter. The difference is that you start catching/evolving 1000+CP mons far sooner if you don't hold off on your lucky eggs. Also, you're more likely to get MORE exp if you use your lucky eggs early on, since there'll be less Pokémon in your Pokédex and you'll be more likely to evolve something you don't have yet, which is an extra 1000 exp.

You only have to make sure you have enough to evolve when you use your lucky egg. Maybe even hold off on evolving things not yet in your dex until you use it.

Is Ice Beam that awful? My good Psyduck evolved into a Water Gun / Ice Beam Golduck. I seem to always either get pump on the shitty ones and beam on the high IV ones. I can always go catch some more since there's a place here where they're more common than zubat or pidgey but it's still annoying since they take 50 candy every time.
