There are proper techniques to painting, filmmaking, writing, etc. Yes, there are examples of works that break rules that end up great, but they are great in spite of that fact, not because of it. A good artist will find other ways to compensate for their artistic choice in breaking those rules. But also, I'm talking about good artists.
Plenty of adequate or mediocre artists can unintentionally create enjoyable art, but that doesn't automatically make their art good. I love the Sylvester Stallone Judge Dredd film, but it falls for several trapings that qualify it as a bad movie, cliché stunts, hackneyed writing, hammy performances, etc.
You can enjoy these fakemons, but know that the majority are shit. All of these people calling the designs shit aren't conspiring against you, telling you ya have shit taste. And complaining about the subjectivity of this makes you sound ignorant.
