Mewtwo wouldve been the first Artificial pokemon even by gen1 standards, as its arguably a few years older than Porygon, but just barely.

Porygon was just the first they were aware of, because they made it. Golurk was likely discovered afterwards or unknown to the Kanto region, and Magearna likely hasn't been discovered yet.

Basically this. There is assumingly only one Magearna, and it's assumingly fairly unheard of, possibly even having been locked away or powered down for a long time in a similar fashion to Victini or Regigigas.

Meanwhile, Porygon was artificially created by a widely-known corporation in a large enough quantity to be sold in casinos and found on islands around Hoenn.

You're basically saying that a Pokemon version of Wikipedia that literally writes itself and is small enough to fit in someone's pocket is somehow omniscient enough to be completely correct every single time with zero factual errors.

It honestly bothers me how little of a shit the translators give to the Pokedex, that thing is the INCENTIVE to start every game. ORAS was the worst about it, just copypasting a ton of shit from X and Y, but keeping some of the RSE original dex entries so some are a paragraph long while others are barely two sentences.

Beyond that, many entries contradict each other or are stupid even for a kid to swallow, like Slugma being hotter than the Sun or Machamp punching 2,000 times a second.

Which if the Dex entries were meant to purely make kids go 'Wow!', then why do they have other ones that focus on the chlorophyll like properties of Bulbasaur or the entries that focus more on how Pokemon imitate actual animal-like colony behaviors as well?

Does the Professor just get completely shitfaced when he's studying and writing info down about the Pokemon you send him?
