The great art style is lessened by the fact that the shape just got fucked.

Other maps have been closer to in game without being this bad. Really dropped the ball here.

ORAS and SM are the only ones to have maps that exactly represent the overworld
Kalos, Unova and priors were simplified maps

It also helps to understand how small Alola will be

SM and ORAS map have every building of every city/route and on scale
No stylized map before that did

Did you even scale the islands for perspective? Hoenn's map is top-down. Alola's shows the curve of the earth, and scales the islands' sizes down based on how far north they are.

Though I dont think Alola is particularly big, but I dont mind, because the regions with thier locations close together always feel better
