Rhydon is one of my favorite Pokemon, but it's essentially pointless to use one when Rhyperior exists.
Not only is Rhyperior ugly, but it's much weaker than your typical Mega is!
Megas and regional forms (Alolan forms) are the way to go.
With Megas, your old favorites can get an optional power boost that is temporary, so you don't lose the look and feel of the older Pokemon entirely.
With Alolan forms, your old favorites are re-imagined and given new life without changing their core design. Colors and features may differ, but the "spirit" of the Pokemon remains the same.
tl;dr I really, really hope there's an Alolan Rhydon.
