So far he's gotten me Scraggy, Darumanitan, Sylveon, Mawile, Mega Mawile, Kriketot, Tyrunt, and Yveltal. I don't even tell him my favorites or anything, he just assumes by my TCG decks or that I'll like what he does. Overall, save for maybe the last, I'd say he's got pretty good taste.
