III got it right with the whole counterpart thing, but nearly all the designs had unnecessary ring or circle patterns like IV, not irregular spots like in the picture.
I honestly don't see the similarity in VI, Gen VI designs aren't that cartoony, at least not their final evolutions, who seems to be the basis here.
