In all seriousness, I like the Ash-Alan relationship since it's like the Ash-Gary rivalry from Johto, and I'm going to give the Flare Arc a shot before dropping the anime regardless of how good it is. If it redeems Ash without making Alan look bad, then I'll treat it as a good end.
