The characters still managed to actually accomplish shit in it. I'm not going to argue that what is essentially a several episode summary is good, but having characters actually do shit already makes it better than what we have.

It was just a collection of episodes 4Kids never aired because of a lack of Ash, and Pikachu shorts. My guess is that they wanted to dub as many episodes as they could while they still had a chance, think of it as their send off to the series if you will.

You're thinking of Chronicles homie. Origins is a anime adaptation of Pokemon Red, with Red's journey and some extra fluff at the end.

Chronicles is a bunch of lose episodes that 4 kids probably never aired because they didnt have ash in them
