Ever since my first game, I've always used the starter as my team leader. Heck, that even includes third versions, remakes and whatnot. I don't know why, but it somehow never occurred to me to sideline the starter or even straight out box it and focus on some other Pokemon instead.

I think I'll be doing just that in SM. Rowlet is going to be my Fly-er, but that's basically it. Don't get me wrong, I don't think the final form is that terrible, frankly. In fact, I'm excited that after all these years I'll finally be able to pick a good Grass-type starter and enjoy it.

Technically, I could box it since it doesn't seem like HMs are required this time around. But I think I'll keep it. It's a good type combination that can provide some good type coverage.

As for who my team leader is going to be, I don't know. That sand castle seems very interesting, and I haven't used a Ground-type in a while. Maybe that, or maybe something else.
