>>27928571Idunno, I just like transformation stories in general, be it anime (of which there's not a lot, unfortunately) or fanfiction (of which there's some, most thriving in the MLP and pokemon communities). I don't like the art, as you can't truly capture transformation without, you know, motion. I don't like those images that show the process of transformation because they often look freaky as fuck. The only exception to art is comics, which fall under the story category.
Why I like it? I guess I've always wanted the ability to transform, to feel like something that isn't me, experience the world from another perspective, but I think most greatly is the want for certain abilities of other creatures, be it fictional or not. Adding said abilities to a regular human being just doesn't feel right; they have to come at a cost. Seeing a character in a story struggle to get to terms with the changes is also interesting to me.
Why it's thriving in pokemon? Well, there's fucking 721 fictional creatures with different abilities and physical traits in a popular franchise. Writing fanfiction/making art about pokemon opens you to a huge established fanbase, and there's tons of material to work on in this franchise alone.
