Some trainers are just better than others.

Ash is lacking in too many categories to ever be a Champion. On an F to S grade scale, Ash's peak is only B.

No amount of bonding and grinding will allow him to "get it" and become truly strong.
Even his bonding is dysfunctional. Ash achieving synchro with Greninja instead of Pikachu has a lot bad implications.
