Ash wins, gets the Gold trophy, Jimmy gets the Silver one. Kurt shows up to congratulate Ash, Ho-Oh swoops in and opens the GS ball, Celebi pops out and flies off into the horizon, Mew and Mewtwo join him. Camera pans down and Ash is back in Pallet Town celebrating with his mother, Oak, Misty and Brock, all of his Pokémon, even reuniting with the ones he released, and the characters of the day he promised to meet again.
Cut to a young Brendan watching Ash's victory in the Silver conference in TV. His mother interrupts him, telling him he has to get ready to move to the Hoenn region. Brendan promises to himself that one day, he'll be a Pokémon master just like Ash.
It would be remembered as a classic with a filler problem, not as a cash cow that degenerated into a pathetic shadow of itself.
