I'm not arguing for or against it, I'm just saying that perhaps people who live in their world would have an entirely different set of taboos and values. sharing lifelong partnerships with sentient beings for generations if not the entirety of their existence as a species, that would probably change what is normal to be attracted to.
I always find it funny when people use the word degenerate but don't really have an idea or concept of what values they are degenerating from.
