How many times is it needed MANDATORY in ORAS? I spent too much time playing Draynors hacks (Blaze Black 2) and got used to Cut being grass type.. now I'm like "ew, no". Will I even have to use it enough to justify teaching it to anything, or is it just a "to get some extra items, reach some extra areas" HM now?

Nothing is gated behind cut trees in ORAS to my knowledge, aside from shortcuts and items. You can go through the whole game without it, but it won't kill you to catch a Zigzagoon to chop down the occasional bush.

Just carry a HM slave, by the time I need to make space for my final actual team member any obstacles that require shit HMs like cut are gone.

See, I'm one of those kinds that doesn't use HM slaves. I'm more of an "each poke gets a specific field move". So one Cutter, one Flyer, etc. So now I can drop Cut for something else.

Dear god I wish they'd just drop HMs altogether.. it wrecks my autism.
