>>27955387Thing is, they are literally more scared of you than you are of them. As for why they lash out at hands that come close, many just mistake it for prey or a predator that needs to be dissuaded, and a bite would do that. Doesn't help that when they are found, they are normally anxious-they are most comfortable in closed spaces where they can know what direction things will come from, or coil up on themselves. They like to hide first.
That said, they do fight back if they have to, but tend to just want to leave things alone and be left alone except for hunting.
