We had episodes actually dedicated to the Elite Four as a concept for the first time and the idea that if you win the league you have to face the Elite Four and the current champion. They melded the league with the games for this exact reason. They basically crafted a way for Ash to win the league, yet not the championship. The show set up a way for him to win without becoming champion. It found a way to actually make the league have a bit of tension because you knew they had set up a way for Ash to win, and still lose.
And then here's a guy with a fucking Darkrai and a Latios to annihilate his team. It was such a slap in the fucking face to what the season had been building up to.
And then the League winners fighting the E4 is never fucking brought up again and they go back to barely factoring into the anime again.
Harrison, and Tyson were fine and Ritchie is a terrible character but the fight was about character development for Ash more than anything else. It was kind of bullshit though.
Alain winning was fine but the Charizard/Greninja fight was kind of shitty and it really was time to just let Ash win the league.
Fuck Cameron.
