Reptilian features are ubiquitous in Gen 1. Machoke's skin splitting open from massive muscle growth is prelude to developing another set of arms. Machop looks a lot less reptilian than Machoke. Other three stage lines have the middle evos as odd one out, sporting features only for them to be dropped on the final stage.
