Trying to think of which gen I feel really has the best starters, and I'm starting to feel inclined to agree. I don't think of the starter sets are particularly bad, though.

Am I the only one who doesn't like Infernal or Torterra? I know most of their fans are just people who had it as their starter for their first Pokemon game, but how good is infernape's design objectively? Because to me, it's absolute shit.
