Presume that you are in the pokemon world. You're doing whatever it is that you do in that world. It's not a special day, you're not going in for the fight against the elite four, you're not taking a hand selected team off to climb the broken tower that has rumors of a dragon legendary being present.
It's just some random Tuesday. What pokemon would you have on you? Why those in particular? Do you stick to the limit of six or would you go off the reservation, running around with a herd? Would you make sure to always have one that can fly? Do you worry about suddenly needing a carefully tuned group of PvP greats? Are you spending most of your time at the bottom of the ocean?
(I'd skip legendaries as they make a lot of life plot assumptions, but if you're sure that by this time in your pokemon world life you'd have your mega rayquaza and be riding it around...)
