Do you think the people playing pokemon go are seriously interested in playing the current pokemon series? Some of them sure, definitely there's going to be a "few", but the vast majority of the people jumping on the pokemon go bandwagon are "trendy" folk who're just jumping onto the latest thing.
The only significance pokemon go has is the nostalgia factor: people will play it, talk about it for maybe a few more months and if the hype hasn't died down now it won't be far off.
