ITT: Possible type changes to be brought about by Sun and Moon? Type changes that should be made in your opinion?

If Alolan Ninetales is part fairy type, will regular Ninetales be changed to Fire/Fairy type? Given the whole nine-tailed fox basis it would make sense.

Kitsunes are a perfect fit for Fairy, which is why Alolan Ninetales got it.

Sure, except it already knows a bunch of Ghost moves and there's precedent for it as a ghost in trainer classes and the anime. Fire/Ghost still makes sense and differentiates it further from its Aloha form. Fire/Fairy would be kinda disappointing even if it works.

And I don't believe Luxray should be Electric/Dark, but it Mega Luxray should be Electric/Dark with a boost in speed and Strong Jaw for STAB and a boost in Crunch/Thunder Fang

Like I said, Electric/Dark Luxray, no.

Mega Luxray. yes, assuming the 100+ boost to its BST isn't ass. Gains 3 weaknesses, gains 2 resistances, an immunity and 2 strengths. It's not a bad trade off, with the right ability. (Strong Jaw)

Agreed.

Bug/Psychic Butterfree is a no-brainer.
Normal/Fighting Primeape.
Ground/Fighting Machamp.
Either Rock/Fire or Fire/Ground Geodude line. I could also see Onix and Steelix picking up a Fire typing.
Seel and/or Dewgong seem likely. Maybe Water/Fighting to ward off Sharpedo, as sharks are the main predators of the Hawaiian Monk Seal. Poison/Grass/Normal would also make sense to me. (I think the rumored dolphin Pokemon will probably be Water/Psychic, so probably not that typing.)
Tentacool/cruel could trade Poison for Electric.
Grimer/Muk could pick up water to represent oceanic pollution.

Beyond Kanto, Hawaii is basically "muh turtles" as far as culture goes, so maybe something extreme like Water/Grass Torkoal.

I'd prefer something like Fighting/Electric, perhaps involving static electricity. Or I guess Fighting/Ice, if they decided to base their Alolan appearance off of Japanese macaques and tossed them up in the mountains.

While fairy types ARE fairytale and folklore related (like a 9 tailed fox would be).
Kyubi no Kitsune is a fox /spirit/ which would lend itself more to being a ghost type.

The alolan form being a fairy is fine but I think the original form should be ghost.

Ghost > Fairy > Psychic > Dark imo. It has a reason to be any of those but ghost has the most credence.

The obvious idea for Alolan forms is to give the popular Gen 1 some limelight and to boost - mostly - good designs that have been neglected.

The other obvious idea is give these pokemon an edge with unique Typings and back story. All the Alolan forms are better than their original forms in some way. Be it design or typing.

Most have been retyped to what they shoukd have always been but we're not due to different types, game compatibility, and spreading the original types evenly across the original 151.

It terms of design and theme vulpix and Ninetails are perfect as ice ad ice/fairy.

Sandslash and sandshrew look amazing and unique.

Marowak never made sense as a ground type, but it's new typing does make sense and make it interesting.

Meowth shoukd have been dark the moment it was introduced.

I could go on.

Obvious Alolan forms would be:

Lapras into a dragon or fairy type with water.
Spearow/Fearow into dark type.
Snorlax into a psychic budda.
Arcaine line could look improved as a water type. Think dogs that ride surf boards.
Ratata line should obviously be dark, but I also think poison works as rats live in sewers etc. So toxic.
Weezing line could easily be psychic/poison to explain it's levitation.
Grimer and Muk line could easily turn ghost.

I'd like Zubat and so on to be poison/psychic, and Houndour and Houndoom to be ground/dark with brown fur and smoother less-raised external bones. Tentacool and Tentacruel would be ghost/electric, white, pink & orange, hovering upside-down about the water's surface, using their tentacles like antennae. It makes more sense the Alola Rattata would be mice that stowed away on cargo ships, then adapted into dark mice that specialize in moves like Thief to steal food from humans because they had a harder time living off the land in their new home. That's pretty much exactly what happened in Hawaii.

'dark' in pokemon refers to dark as an element, not the color of the pokemon's skin. there's nothing dark about jynx. tahts like saying krabby should be a fire type because it's red.

I think what they were trying to say is that Jynx is Dark because she's a siren. In Japanese, the Dark-type is 'あく' meaning 'evil'. So Jynx becomes a Water/Evil type because she lures men and Pokémon to their deaths with her singing. Does that make more sense?
