Back when Gen II came out I just found out from school. There were a lot of bullshit rumors and some not bullshit rumors.

One of the bullshit rumors was that you could get into that pool with the waterfall in it I linked in the vid. I spent hours trying to work out how to get into it.

So basically it was trial and error for me.

NPCs in the games give you a lot of information if you'd bother to talk to them. Also in BW2 you could ask Professor Juniper how to evolve any Pokemon and she'd tell you.

Up until you run into a Pokemon with an obscure evolution method and then whoops it's time for trial and error.
Especially since there's absolutely no indication as to which Pokemon evolve by, say, trading.
