I didn't know they raised the shiny encounter rate. I've caught a few in Gen VI games, but then again I also caught a bunch in the Gen III games. Hell, I honestly thought you were supposed to get two shinies per game because that's how many I came across.

I found two shiny Altaria, two shiny Pumpkaboo and a shiny Gligar in Y, a Shiny Munna and a shiny Glameow in OR and two shiny Ralts in AS. Only the Ralts and one of the Pumpkaboo were shinies I was actually looking for. The rest were completely random.

Randomness is random.
Some people will always be in the righternmost part of the probability bell curve and meet a lot of shinies. I've met exactly 1 shiny so far, a shitty random Wingull, despite having ~200 hours in OR and a shiny charm.
If anything, injections are what "ruins" shinies since they take all the effort/luck out of the equation and lead to "shone plox" spam in the PSS.

The only wild shiny I ever encountered in ORAS or XY was a Mawile in a Friend Safari.

Never found a 6th gen shiny completely out in the wild, yet I've found 5 pre 6th gens shinies under the full 8,192 odds without even hunting for them. Guess that's just luck.

Most shinies look like ass, most of them are terrible pallet swaps made with colors that don't complement each other. This isn't the case for all shinies, shinies like golurk or cacturn look nice but a lot are hideous.

Anything you can do to decrease the RNG is to your benefit. It's why it's best to look for shiny Pokemon in a friend safari, or on a route with very few Pokemon.

Staying in a place with a small selection of Pokemon increases the chance that the shiny you encounter will be what you want, it doesn't increase the chance of a shiny being encountered, which is what that other guy was saying. The only way in which staying in the same general location increases your chances over progressing through the game and going all over, is that if you're in the same place you're probably also living in that patch of grass and encountering nonstop because you're actively hunting for shinies or something else.
