>>28051430Okay, the big one. It was missed potential the region. I mean, they introduced literal god Pokemon and didn't give them a story showing those godly powers. Instead it made them feel more like the garden variety legends. Sure the Distortion world in Platinum was a nice touch but there was nothing in it.
The main thing they should have done is have the distortions spread out across local space time where Galactic detect it and widen it as to enact their master plan of destroying the universe by means of collapsing one into the other only to realise that they themselves were the cause of the distortions in the future. See what I mean? This is the kind of plot it needed. Not a rehash of RSE but worse.
Also a lot of the lore didn't mean anything. In any other game it's related to the plot in some way like the Black and White's brothers, The beasts dying and being revived by Ho-oh, Just about everything in ORAS and so on. Instead it goes on about meaningless legends of Pokemon marriage that literally doesn't matter.
Next comes the speed of the game.
Everything was horrendously slow especially going from gen 3 where everything was 60fps. The worst part is that people tend to lie about Plat fixing it when the only thing it touched was the surf speed. On top of that "saving a lot of data" which was increased in Platinum mind you.
Then there's the fact that most of the additional content was either useless, added needless tedium or was a poor imitation of a gen 3 feature.
Take contests, the BF and bases as examples of the latter. The contests had the interesting mechanics removed like combos, jamming and nervousness which added depth, the BF was homogenized in the sense that every facility had the same kind of feel to it progression and gameplay wise. Not to mention they reduced the amount of facilities from 7 to 5 for no particular reason.
Then there's the bases which took a particularly hard hit, instead of making them work online and on the overworld.
