I got Yellow on NO$GMB, completely unaware of anything in the game. Some time before G/S launch in the US.

The fight against Sabrina begins, and my Charmeleon went up against her Abra.

I used Rage. It missed. You do know what happens, right?

Just reload a save? I was using only savestates, and pressed the goddamn button just as it missed for some reason.

I never finished that fight.

It was alot of fun despite the obvious flaws within the game, after that I played gold and then sapphire, stopped playing for a long time until gen 6 and rediscovered my love for the franchise.

I got Red for my 4th or 5th birthday, I remember evolving my Charmander in the car on the way to some road show thing my Dad wanted to go to. I don't know why, but it really stuck with me, even though it was completely inconsequential.

My Mum was in the car but my Dad was out, we'd stopped somewhere so he could talk to my Uncle. No idea where we were. I think it was just after Brock's gym my Charmander evolved.

I was really into pokemon as a kid but I though it was just a cardgame and a tv show, no idea the games even existed. Because of this I though it was a Yu-Gi-Oh rip off and eventually stopped watching it.

I did the same but with moves in Gen 2. When you selected a move it said "Where?" and I thought it was asking for a target like HMs in the overworld. I knew about all the exploits and hidden items but never learnt how to reorganise moves.
